Royal Enfield is a very popular two-wheeler manufacturer not just in India but also abroad. Recently, the company launched the all-new RE Meteor 350 BS6 in the Indian market. Following the India launch, RE launched the new Meteor 350 in the global markets too including Thailand, United Kingdom, Italy, etc. Now, a test mule of the Royal Enfield Interceptor has been spied on test in India and what's interesting is that it has a single-sided exhaust set-up. So, is this the upcoming all-new Royal Enfield Interceptor 350 BS6? Here, we have for you all the details about it.

If you remember, just a few weeks ago, we reported to you that this Madras-based Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is now getting very aggressive for the domestic as well as the global markets. Very recently, a top Royal Enfield official reported to a media house that the company is presently seeking to strengthen its position both in the domestic as well as in the international markets by launching several new motorcycles over the years. According to the latest media reports, the company is planning to launch one new Royal Enfield motorcycle in every three months. The Indian bikemaker is aiming to launch at least 28 new motorcycles in the next seven years.

Now, talking about this spied test mule, so as you can see in the pictures, it completely resembles the RE Interceptor 650 which is currently on sale in the Indian market. The spied test mule of the motorcycle has an upright riding position, just like the twin-cylinder Interceptor. Also, its rectangular turn-indicators and the taillamps are also completely identical to the 650cc Interceptor. Further, the golden canister on the rear shock absorber is also clearly visible. However, the biggest difference between this spied test mule and the Interceptor 650 is that it has a single side-mounted exhaust. So, it is assumed that it might be the upcoming Royal Enfield Interceptor 350 BS6!

Why this new motorcycle can be the Interceptor 350? As Royal Enfield is planning to launch several new motorcycles over the years, the company has to properly utilise the existing platforms and powertrains. The newly launched Meteor 350 is a great motorcycle. Also, the Interceptor 650 is a great tourer and people love the way this motorcycle looks. So, it might be possible that the company will launch the new Interceptor 350 that will be based on the Meteor 350 and will get its powertrain but the design cues will be borrowed from the Interceptor. The upcoming Interceptor 350 will be most likely powered by the newly developed J-series BS6-compliant engine.

It will be powered by a 349cc, single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled engine that will also get an electronic fuel-injection system. This is the same engine that does its duty in the Meteor 350 and churns out 20.2 PS of maximum power at 6100 RPM and 27 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM. This new engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox in the RE Meteor 350 and the same is expected for this new motorcycle too. The upcoming RE Interceptor 350 will rival against the Jawa Motorcycles, Benelli Imperiale 400 and the Honda H'Ness CB 350. So, what are your thoughts on the upcoming RE Interceptor 350?
