Royal Enfield Classic 650 Details

The Classic 650 is instantly recognizable as a Classic, but in a larger and slightly wider frame. The styling is very much retro, it gets the typical round LED headlamp with twin pilot lamps on either side, and the presence of the twin pea-shooter exhaust pipes somehow give the motorcycle a 'complete' look, like a void that was waiting to be filled. The chrome finish on the mechanical bits further reinforces the retro British motorcycle vibe. There are four colour schemes on offer; Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome.
Based on the same 650 platform, the Classic 650 features the same 648cc, twin-cylinder engine, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It continues to produce 43.6bhp at 7250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5650rpm.

The Classic 650 also shares its sub-frame with the Shotgun 650. It gets twin shock absorbers at the rear, with the same 90mm travel, along with conventional 43mm telescopic forks with 120mm of travel. This is different from the Shotgun, which gets USDs at the front. To bring it to a halt, Royal Enfield has deployed a 320mm front disc with a dual-piston floating calliper, along with a 300mm rear disc, also with a dual-piston floating calliper.

The Classic 650 keeps it fairly simple in terms of features. It comes with the familiar semi-digital instrument cluster, featuring the analogue speedometer and the digital fuel display below, and the tripper navigation pod placed on the right side. Other things include dual-channel ABS, a USB port, a removable rear seat, and a slip-and-assist clutch.

With prices ranging between Rs 3.37 lakh to Rs 3.50 lakh (all prices ex-showroom), the Classic 650 undercuts the Shotgun 650. The bikemaker says that deliveries will begin from April, and do stay tuned for our review!
Verdict
The Classic 650 aims to be the perfect upgrade for those who have been riding the Classic 350 and seek for all the similar qualities but in a bigger and improved package. With the proven Classic nametag in a bigger form, Royal Enfield might just have another winner on its hands.
