PROS
1. Power-Packed Performance
Powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine inherited from the R15 v3, the Yamaha Aerox 155 delivers 15bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. This engine is a standout feature of the scooter, offering impressive performance that enables swift acceleration and stable high-speed handling. The VVA technology contributes to its agility, allowing the Aerox 155 to achieve triple-digit speeds while maintaining a composed ride effortlessly. The performance that the Aerox scooter offers, is one of its strongest footing and does justice to its segment.
2. Riding Dynamics- The Feel And Handling
True to its name, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc engine derived from the YZF-R15. Although it produces 14.7 horsepowerslightly less than the R15's outputit remains one of the most powerful scooters available in India. The engine benefits from Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, which enhances performance by optimizing valve timing for smooth and responsive acceleration. The scooter's design and form factor make it nimble while you feel the potent engine's acceleration and power making it an exciting ride in both urban and highway conditions.
3. Mileage Matched To Performance
The Yamaha Aerox 155 offers somewhere around 40 kmpl mark. And wait! I know, its not the best when compared to the traditional commuter scooters, you have to factor in the fact that it is sourcing its engine from the R15 legacy. And while it isn't the best figure in general, the performance that comes with it, the 40 kmpl benchmark is pretty solid for the overall package.
CONS
1. Poor Floorboard Storage
As much as the performance and the styling is appreciated, the scooter comes with impractical floorboard storage. While it is apt if you want just place your legs and nothing in between, let's be honest, a scooter in an Indian household is the real workhorse and the Aerox 155 gets beaten up in this space. There are very few items that you can carry and that is a big minus. However, you do get a pretty decent 24-litre underseat storage. But for those bigger loads, not the best mode to carry!
2. Pretty Expensive
The Yamaha Aerox 155 is priced at Rs. 1.48 lakhs ex-showroom, which is a very steep ask considering that you are still getting just a scooter. This surpasses some of the popular bikes that have much more mass appeal. Even after you make peace with the fact that this is a performance scooter, the general adoption rate will remain low due to its niche set of buyers in a country that has still a long way to go with performance maxi-scooters. Just for a quick comparison, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 starts at Rs. 1.49 lakhs ex-showroom which is almost equal to the Aerox and you can imagine what happens when the cross-segment shopper ends up on this diversion of choice!

3. Stiffer Rear Suspension
Don't get me wrong, the seat is pretty comfortable and well-padded and adds to the comfortable rides on the roads, however, it is the rear suspension tuning that has some distance to go. While the overall ride quality is god enough and the scooter does soak up the undulating surfaces well, if the rear suspensions can be tweaked a bit, it would be an impeccable scooter on the road.
Verdict
The maxi-performance market is still in its budding stages in the country. This also stems from the fact that the higher price points coupled with the scooter space genreally linked to family use in the country is a prospect looking forward to just fulfilling its duties and not offering the quickest performance. However, if you are out for a performance scooter, this is pretty solid at what it does.
