The first Pulsar-branded motorcycle was launched in India in 2001 and recently it has completed its glorious 18 years of existence. Over the years, Bajaj has diversified the Pulsar range so much that now there is one Pulsar for everyone. The Pulsar appellation is associated with motorcycles of different displacements ranging from 150cc to 220cc and also 125cc. Recently, we got for you an Exclusive report on the BS6-compliant Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat. The new Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6 has now started arriving in dealerships across India. And, today we have for you the First Look Review of this new 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6.
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6: What is it?
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat is a sportier version of the regular Pulsar 125 Neon. It slots in above the Pulsar 125 Neon and sits in below the Pulsar 150 Neon in Bajaj's portfolio. Buoyed by the success of the Pulsar 125 Neon, the Split Seat version was launched in India in September 2019. However, back then it was BS4-compliant and also was limited to certain regions of India only. It's now 2020, i.e. the BS6 era has arrived and Bajaj has decided to bring back this bike in a new avatar. Also, this time it is expected to be made available pan-India.
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6: Looks, Dimensions and Colour Options
The BS4 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat completely resembled the Pulsar 150 Twin Disc model. However, it was hampering the sales of its elder sibling and so this time Bajaj decided to give it a makeover. The new 2020 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6 gets Neon colour shades but with some twists. For instance, it gets a new tank shroud with engine cowl (belly pan), split-seat set-up, and split grab rails. The new colour shades on offer are Black with Orange and Black with Silver.
The BS6 Pulsar 125 Split Seat is more like a mixture of all. It gets body panels like the Pulsar 150 Twin Disc, colours resemble the Pulsar 150 Neon and the mechanicals are borrowed from the Pulsar 125 Neon. It measures 2055 mm in length, 755 mm in width and 1060 mm in height. The bike has a wheelbase of 1320 mm and the saddle height stands at 790 mm. It has a decent ground clearance of 165 mm. However, it is a tad heavier compared to its rivals as it weighs around 140 kilograms.
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6: Engine, Transmission and Mileage
So, as we mentioned before, it borrows the powertrain from the Pulsar 125 Neon. So, the new Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat gets a BS6-compliant 124.4cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 12 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 11 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. It is one of the most powerful bikes in its class and the engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
It also gets a fuel-injection system and Bajajs patented DTS-i technology to offer better performance and fuel economy. The power figures of this machine are segment-leading but that doesn't mean a compromise on fuel-efficiency. The Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6 delivers around 55-60 kmpl of mileage in real-world conditions. Moreover, it gets a massive 15-litres of fuel-tank, thereby providing an excellent riding range.
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat BS6: Tyres, Brakes and Features
The BS6 Pulsar 125 Split seat features new 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre measures 80/100-17 while the rear one is a 100/90 section 17-inch unit. The braking duties are handled by a 240 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum brake unit at the rear. It also gets a combined-barking system (CBS) for added safety.
The suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and twin nitrox gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Talking about features, it gets a semi-analogue semi-digital instrument cluster which consists of an analogue tachometer, while all the other information are displayed digitally. It also gets backlit switches which are very useful at night and this feature is not offered by any other bike manufacturer in this segment.
