The premium hatchback segment will be once again on fire as the new-generation Hyundai i20 is all set to be launched in the coming days. The new-gen i20 has been in news since a really long time. Hitherto, the pre-production test mules of the new i20 have been spied in India several times. Now, Hyundai has officially revealed the new-gen i20 and it is all set to be launched on November 5, 2020. Here are all the details about the variants, engine details and colours options of the upcoming new 2020 Hyundai i20.
The new-generation Hyundai i20 will get multiple powertrain options. It will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that will churn out 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an IVT (CVT). Next, it will have a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that will churn out 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only and there will be no diesel-automatic combo.
Finally, the new i20 will also get a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This turbo petrol motor does its duty in a lot of Hyundai-Kia cars in two different states of tune. The one in the Venue and Sonet churns out 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of peak torque. While the one in Grand i10 Nios and Aura develops 100 PS of power and 171 Nm of torque. The new i20 will get the 120 PS version of the same. It will come mated to a segment-first 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission) and a 7-speed DCT.

Now, let's talk about the variants of the new 2020 Hyundai i20. So, the new third-generation Hyundai i20 will be offered in four trim levels and a total of 14 variants will be on sale. It will be offered in Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O) trims. The top-spec Asta (O) trim will be loaded with features up to the gills and the new i20 will get several first-in-segment features too. Talking about the colour options, the new i20 will be offered in eight colour options, out of which six will be mono-tone colours and two will be dual-tone options. The mono-tone colour variants are Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night and Metallic Copper. Except for the base Magna trim, all other variants will get two dual-tone shades too. The new i20 will be very feature-loaded and it will get a big 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai's BlueLink connected car technology. It will also get an all-digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, premium Bose speakers, etc.
The new i20 is all set to be launched on November 5, 2020. The bookings for the same are already open and one can book it by paying a token amount of Rs. 21,000. Upon launch, it will rival against a lot of premium hatchbacks which include the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza, etc. It is expected to be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 5.50 lakhs - Rs. 9.50 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
