And now, we are going to do a comparison of the 2020 Nissan Kicks BS6 Mileage vs its Rivals.

The 2020 Nissan Kicks will be powered by two petrol engines: a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated motor and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The BS4 Kicks also used to get a 1.5-litre K9K DCi diesel engine that was very popular in the Indian market but due to the stricter BS6 emission norms, Nissan Group has decided to ditch it. However, to compensate for this oil-burner, the carmaker will introduce the new 1.3-litre HR13 four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor and will also get Nissans famous 8-speed X-Tronic CVT gearbox which the company claims to be the best in the business.
Here is a table that lists the engine specifications and mileage of the naturally-aspirated 2020 Nissan Kicks BS6 and its arch-rivals which include the 2020 Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. We have compared the Naturally-aspirated engines and Turbocharged petrol engines distinctively to give you a better insight into these mills:
Model | Kicks BS6 | Creta 2020 | Seltos |
Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine | 1.5-litre | 1.5-litre | 1.5-litre |
Max. Power | 106 PS | 115 PS | 115 PS |
Max. Torque | 142 Nm | 144 Nm | 144 Nm |
Manual Gearbox | 5-speed | 6-speed | 6-speed |
Automatic Gearbox | Unavailable | CVT | CVT |
Mileage MT (kmpl) | 13.9 | 16.8 | 16.5 |
Mileage AT (kmpl) | Unavailable | 17.1 | 16.8 |
If we compare the naturally-aspirated petrol engines, the 2020 Hyundai Creta tops the list of fuel economy, followed by its cousin Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks gets the third spot. The 2020 Kicks gets a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that churns out 106 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque, mated only to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos get the same engine. Both the cars are powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor that churns out 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. Both the SUVs come mated to a 6-speed manual as well as a CVT gearbox.
Now, here is a table that lists the engine specifications and mileage of the turbocharged 2020 Nissan Kicks BS6 and its rivals which include the 2020 Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and also the MG Hector:
Model | Kicks BS6 | Creta 2020 | Seltos | MG Hector |
Turbocharged Petrol Engine | 1.3-litre | 1.4-litre | 1.4-litre | 1.5-litre turbo 1.5-litre turbo-hybrid |
Max. Power (PS) | 156 | 140 | 140 | 143 |
Max. Torque (Nm) | 254 | 242 | 242 | 250 |
Manual Gearbox | 6-speed | Unavailable | 6-speed | 6-speed |
Automatic Gearbox | 8-speed CVT | 7-speed DCT | 7-speed DCT | 6-speed DCT |
Mileage MT (kmpl) | 15.8 | Unavailable | 16.1 | 14.26 15.81 (MT hybrid) |
Mileage AT (kmpl) | 15.8 (appx.) | 16.8 | 16.5 | 13.96 |
From the table above, one can make out clearly the mileage figures of all the cars and in the turbo-petrol category, it's the Kia Seltos that bags the top position in the MT class and its cousin Hyundai Creta tops the list of fuel-economy in the class of AT. The 2020 Kicks is powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol motor that churns out a whopping 156 PS of power and 254 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed CVT.
Again, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos share the same powerplant. Both the SUVs get a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor that churns out 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque. However, while the Kia gets both MT as well as an AT, which is basically a 7-speed DCT, the Creta misses out on a stick shifter. MG Hector, on the other hand, gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The engine comes coupled to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT and it also gets hybrid assistance with the manual gearbox to boost the fuel economy.
Lastly, talking about price, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will be launched soon in the country and it is expected to be priced between Rs. 10 lakhs Rs. 15 lakhs, Ex-showroom. Its other rivals like the Creta and the Seltos also fall in the same price bracket while the Hector starts at a tad higher cost but eventually falls in the same ballpark.
