Before we proceed, Skoda India has ditched the diesel engines for all of its models for good. Instead, they have brought in turbo petrol motors to push that torque. Also, the new Skoda Rapid shares its engines with the Volkswagen Vento and Polo.
Mechanical Changes
Earlier the Skoda Rapid was available in both 1.6L petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine. Instead of tuning the petrol to BS6 form, Skoda has opted for a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. It produces 110 PS with 175 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard only.
Fuel Efficiency
With the inclusion of turbo petrol, the ARAI certified fuel efficiency 18.97 km/l for the 6-speed manual gearbox. Skoda also says that the Rapid sees an increase of 23% in terms of the fuel efficiency than the older 1.6L MPI petrol motor.

Skoda has introduced Rider edition to the Rapid line-up and is available in two colours only. Earlier, the Skoda was available in an 'Active' trim which is now discontinued. The Ambition trim is available in four colour option while the Onyx comes in two colours - Candy White and Lapiz Blue Only.
