Ford Mustang saw tremendous success from the time it was launched in 2016 till now in India. Well, the grand tourer has been discontinued now but the new Ford Mustang is expected to come to India again in the early months of 2021.
Ford India has managed to find 450 happy buyers in India for the Mustang and we already expect to see some positive news for the 2021 model. As they say, we should not count the chickens before they hatch but an affordable sports car that costs well under Rs 1 crore and comes with 450 bhp always catches the eye.
Sharing details on the 2021 Mustang then Ford will bring the same 5.0-litre V8 engine which now churns 450 bhp. We used the same engine (lesser power though) on our Mumbai To Delhi roadtrip which we did well under 17 Hours. Well, don't ask about the fuel economy as it was in single digits only. Haha!

Globally, Ford also has a 2.3L Ecoboost which makes 310 bhp and a more powerful 526 bhp Shelby GT350. The former costs less but will be a downgrade and the Shelby produces more power but will be a costly affair. So choosing the middle option, the 5.0L will be a better choice. After all, Ford India also has to keep a check on the sales of the Mustang.
On the design front, the 2021 Mustang now gets tweaked bumpers with a refreshed bonnet. Here, the scoop on either side of the bonnet will increase power and cool off the engine quickly. The integrated LED DRLs just brings out more character to the Mustang and there are LED lights too below the headlights.
The side profile more or less remains the same with some creases and lines. The Indian avatar might see a change in alloy wheel design. The rear profile also sees LED treatment and now gets a new spoiler. I am just glad that it is not jacked up spoiler as we have seen on some aftermarket examples.

On the inside, there is a completely new fully digital instrument cluster and now the Mustang also receives Track mode. The centre console packs in a touchscreen infotainment system which now gets equipped with modern connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2021 Mustang will also carry several drive modes, paddle shifters and a whopping 450 bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine. The engine will be mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox which will help out in delivering performance as well as good fuel efficiency. Don't laugh now, we might do a FE test on the Mustang soon ;)
