Maruti has finally taken the wraps off the all-new 2022 Grand Vitara. Powered by two engine options, hosting loads of modern features and bringing safety closer to home, Grand Vitara will rival Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Kia Seltos and Toyota Hyryder once launched in the Indian market.
Mechanically, the Grand Vitara is available with two petrol motors - 1.5L intelligent electric hybrid and 1.5L petrol with smart hybrid. The former is a new unit that generates a useable peak power and torque of 114 bhp and 144 Nm, respectively. This engine gets mated to an e-CVT unit. It delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 27.97 kmpl which is the highest in the segment.
On the other hand, the 1.5L is the same unit as found in the new-gen Brezza and it belts out 102 bhp of power with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. This engine gets mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic as an option. This motor gets a FWD set-up as standard and AWD as an option which is again, first in the segment.
Feature-wise, the Grand Vitara gets a panoramic sunroof, 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, ventilated cooled front seats, wireless charging, fully digital instrument cluster, head-up display, 360-degree camera and more.
Safety equipment include as many as six airbags, electronic stability program with hill-hold assist, 3-point ELR seatbelts for all seats, rear disc brakes as standard across all trims, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-descent control, speed sensing door locks, reverse parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, ABS with EBD and more.

Variants of the Maruti Grand Vitara
The 1.5L petrol with smart hybrid gets four trims - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha whereas the 1.5L intelligent hybrid is available in two variants only - Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus.
