2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 adventure bike was spied testing again. Spy photos reveal the completely new exhaust design of the upcoming motorcycle.
The 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 adventure motorcycle has been extensively testing over the public roads for some time now. Another test mule was spotted recently revealing more details such as the exhaust design of the upcoming adventure motorcycle.
Design & Features
As we go through the latest spy pics, the test mule is heavily camouflaged. Thus, a lot of details remain hidden from us. But, what is visible, are the bigger dimensions of the Himalayan 450 as compared to the current Himalayan 411. Apart from this, the large tubular frame now holds the jerry can mounts at the front while there are visible mounts for luggage panniers and the top box at the rear end.
Royal Enfield has embedded a long beak at the front to preserve the motorcycle parts during extreme off-road situations. A visible larger fuel tank means more riding range, and the large split-seats mean the long rides will be far more comfortable as well. USD forks at the front are a big welcome as they'll make the motorcycle more structurally rigid and nimble to maneuver. One thing to notice is the rear-set foot pegs which divulge the fact that the upcoming bike will be more dedicated to riding as compared to the current-gen Himalayan.
The rear seems to be using an all-LED setup as visible via the tail light and the LED turn indicators. A single mono-shock suspension is used at the rear end in the typical adventure motorcycle design style. We also suspect that the latest test mule was running on a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup; similar to the current Himalayan.
The most revealing details are about the exhaust design. Visible blurry in the spy pics, the exhaust can design is a never seen layout for a Royal Enfield. The company seems to have ditched the upright set exhaust and a small end-can seen over the likes of KTM Adventure 390 is visible. This equates to the fact that the exhaust sound will also be completely different from what we are used to. Also, the engine case design layout is never seen before on a Royal Enfield.
The test mule also supported a vertical digital instrument cluster. Twin-pod setup means the tripper navigation, and riding modes option will also be available. It is anticipated that the upcoming Himalayan will bring a lot of tech-laden features such as switchable riding modes, cornering ABS, etc.
Himalayan 450 Engine & Specifications
The upcoming Himalayan 450 will be equipped with a brand new single-cylinder 450cc engine which shall produce a peak power output in the likes of 40 hp. Also, the torque is anticipated to be around 45 Nm. These figures will make the upcoming adventure motorcycle the most powerful single-cylinder bike in the Royal Enfield lineup.
A new 6-speed gearbox with slip-assist clutch function is also suspected to carry forward. This will ensure relaxed highway cruising which was a downer for the Himalayan 411 due to the 5-speed gearbox.
We profoundly expect the new Himalayan 450 to launch around the festive season by the end of this year. Once launched, the current-gen motorcycle is expected to go out of production as well. Pricing will bump for sure as the new bike will be more powerful and better equipped.
