2023 Honda City Facelift Details
Speaking of the spy shot, it comes directly from Thailand. Spied internationally, the updated car is partially camouflaged. At the first glance, it looks largely unchanged. However, a closer look reveals the subtle changes. The front grill is now wide and large in size. The fat chrome bar at the nose is also missing as seen on the current car. Additionally, the camouflaged bumper has large air dams on both ends. Looks like Honda is trying to play it in a sporty manner as the alloy wheels are backed-out. Additionally, the ORVMs are also painted black for a sporty outlook. Meanwhile, the headlights and the bonnet design are similar to the current model.
Honda City has a wide market in Thailand. Additionally, the rivals like Toyota Yaris have been updated overseas & hence the updated model is needed. However, in India also, the car needs a facelift. Why? Because the rivals are coming with new models like the 2023 Hyundai Verna. Hence, an updated model makes even more sense now. Meanwhile, there are no interior pics till now. Hence, we can't comment on whether the changes on the inside will be subtle or radical.
Mechanically, the global models get a 1.0-lt turbo-petrol & a 1.5-lt NA petrol engine options. However, the Indian market shall continue getting the 1.5-lt petrol & diesel siblings. Meanwhile, the Honda City Hybrid is also expected to be updated in 2023. We expect that the prices will get higher by a few thousand because of new features and design updates.
Verdict
The updated facelift of City will bring the necessary mid-life changes to the model in India. However, the launch date of the 2023 facelift is still unknown.
