- It will be offered with more features and safety equipment
- The sedan will rival Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz once its launched in India
The sedan culture in India is rising again, thanks to the new entrants this year, Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus. Before them, this segment was ruled by Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. Now, we believe that the Hyundai Verna can take its title as the hottest sedan again with its 2023 iteration. In this article, we share everything we know about the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna.
Mechanical Details
We expect that the new-gen Verna will be equipped with the same engine options as the current one - 1.5L diesel, 1.5L petrol and a more powerful, 1.0L turbo petrol. We do expect a mild-hybrid technology with non-turbo petrol for better fuel economy.

A 6-speed manual as standard will be offered for both 1.5L petrol and diesel while for the automatic, an IVT for the petrol and a 6-speed AT for the oil burner will be available as an option. The turbo petrol motor will continue with a 7-speed DCT as standard. Furthermore, we can expect an N Line version of the same.
Design
The all-new Verna will have a sharper-looking design and borrows inspiration from the new-gen Tucson. At the front, we can expect a parametric jewel-styled grille as we've seen in the Tucson, an agile bumper set-up with reworked fog light housing and more. Towards the side, expect new diamond-cut alloy wheels and more. The silhouette of the sedan remains more or less the same and we can expect some changes in the rear profile too.
Features
With the new-gen model, expect the Verna to be loaded with features up to the brim. We can expect a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, better connectivity features, a bigger electric sunroof and more.
Safety Equipment
With a new model comes better safety. If reports are to be believed then we expect the new Verna to be offered with ADAS, 360-degree camera, park assist and more. There's no clarity that if the Verna will be offered with Level 1 ADAS or Level 2.

Price
The current model is priced from Rs 9.43 lakh to Rs 15.52 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. We expect the new model to be priced above Rs 10 lakh for the base variant and to go all the way up to Rs 17 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Verdict
The new model will not only be rich in features but also be better equipped with safety too. In addition to this, the price too will rise but the new-gen Verna will definitely rival strongly to its rivals. It is expected to be launched at the 2023 Auto Expo.
