2023 Kia Sonet Facelift - What To Expect!
The new Sonet has been undergoing testing for a significant duration, and recently, some undercover images have come to light. These snapshots clearly demonstrate that Kia has gone to great lengths to conceal the substantial changes beneath the heavy camouflage, particularly at the front end.
The upcoming Sonet from Kia India is anticipated to feature a refreshed look, highlighted by a redesigned front fascia with revamped LED headlights and distinctively shaped L-shaped LED daytime running lights. Moving towards the back, the vehicle's rear is expected to be equally well-disguised. Notable alterations include new connecting-style LED taillights and an updated bumper design. This shift will provide a fresh aesthetic, evident in the redesigned lines and shapes on the Sonet's bonnet.
It's likely that the lesser camouflaged areas, such as the sides, will only receive minor enhancements like additional body cladding.
The new model also boasts fresh wheels. In previous spy shots, red brake callipers were visible on the front, resembling the X-Line variant. However, an exciting addition is the introduction of rear disc brakes. This makes the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift the third sub-4m SUV with an internal combustion engine to sport rear disc brakes.

2023 Kia Sonet Facelift - Features And Powertrain
The Kia Sonet, known for boasting one of the finest interiors among sub 4m SUVs, is poised for an update. While the changes might not be dramatic, they could still bring a fresh perspective. Currently, Kia is the sole provider of a 10.2 touchscreen in the sub 4m SUV category.
In terms of pioneering features within its segment, the Sonet will incorporate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Although the number of ADAS features is anticipated to be moderate, estimated between 7 to 9, they are a significant step forward. Additionally, the Sonet already comes equipped with conveniences like auto climate control, a single-pane sunroof, a 360-degree camera, front seat ventilation, and front parking sensors.

Under the hood, the powertrain lineup remains unaltered: a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. Transmission choices encompass manual, intelligent manual transmission (IMT), automatic, and dual-clutch automatic (DCT). The launch is projected for either later this year or the early months of the following year.
Verdict
Currently, while limited details have emerged, there are high expectations that the upcoming facelift of the Kia Sonet will usher in significant changes. This anticipated revamp is poised to position the Sonet as a strong contender, potentially rivaling its tough competitor, the Tata Nexon facelift, in the market. The existing Tata Sonet already goes head-to-head with formidable opponents like the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and more.
