2023 KTM 200 Duke LED Headlight Update Details
KTM will soon launch the new variant of the 200 Duke in India. This new version will solely get a new LED headlight upgrade. This new LED headlight is likely to be the same as the bigger Duke 390. This means it'll get enhanced looks as well as better illumination during the night. However, the catch is that this will be a new variant only. The standard halogen headlight version will also remain on sale alongside; which is a good thing. The pricing of the LED headlight version will be Rs 4,000 higher than the halogen variant. This means that it'll be priced at Rs 1.97 lakh (ex-showroom).
However, KTM will not add other features like TFT display on this variant. The reason behind this is the steep pricing. The 200 Duke is already Rs 2 lakh upwards to own on-road in India. If KTM adds features like TFT, etc., it'll reach into the territory of the 250 Duke in terms of pricing. Hence, only the LED headlight will make way on the new version. Mind you, the new OBD2-compliant 200 Duke is equipped with a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine generates a peak power of 25.4 bhp & 19.5 Nm of peak torque. This power is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Verdict
The Duke 200 has been a subtle product for the company in India. It sells in decent numbers and enthusiasts do prefer it over some of its rivals. However, its steep pricing drags a block in front of its success in India. The LED headlight addition will only lead to the attraction of young buyers. Maybe this is what KTM India wants for the Duke 200. Speaking of alternatives, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 & Suzuki Gixxer 250 are their direct rivals.
