Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Teased
Although the wraps are not pulled off by the German automaker, there are some very obvious takeaways. The third-gen Tiguan will have refreshed styling, bigger dimensions, and a lot of tech on board. However, the wheelbase will remain the same. According to VW, the SUV is now 32mm longer at 4,551mm, and is 5mm higher at 1,640mm, but sits on the same wheelbase at 2,681mm.
The SUV is now a little less boxy than before and definitely feels bigger as well and is based on the MQB Evo platform The teasers talk about the standard version of the Tiguan and not the longer wheelbase(LW) Allspace variant. The LW version is most likely being replaced by the upcoming VW Tayron SUV.

Interior And Features
Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout is an all-new cockpit-styled setup that looks and feels premium and modern. The infotainment screen can be the 15-inch unit as it bears resemblance to the one seen on the Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan. It will get a 10.25-inch instrument cluster along with a new heads-up display unit. The higher variants will get the option for ventilated seats with both cold and hot adjustments as well. On top of that, features like wireless phone projection, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS is now getting common and will be accompanying Tiguan as well.
Powertrain
Although there are no clear details about the powertrain, reports suggest that it will come in a petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) set-up. The PHEV will offer around 120 km of electric-only driving range and could churn out power in the range of 220- 250 PS. Apart from the front-wheel drive set-up, it is expected with a 4Motion All Wheel Drive too.
It continues to lock horns with the likes of Skoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Tucson.
VERDICT- Since the 2nd gen Tiguan is now touching its 7-year mark, it needs an update to meet the current modern demands. Next-gen Tiguan will start retailing first in Europe in 2024 and subsequently hit our shores at a later date in the same year itself.
