The initial variant of the 2024 Sonet has commenced its arrival at local dealerships in the country. Displayed in the accompanying images, this variant is equipped with halogen headlamps, faux skid plates, the signature tiger-nose grille, updated front and rear bumpers, steel wheels featuring wheel covers, body-colored ORVMs and door handles, an LED light bar at the rear, and a shark-fin antenna. However, certain exterior elements present in the top variant, such as roof rails, fog lights, LED headlamps, and dual-tone alloy wheels, are absent in this base model.
The revamped Kia Sonet in its base configuration introduces an array of interior features including a digital instrument console, steering-mounted controls, six airbags, and TPMS. However, it lacks certain amenities found in higher variants, such as a touchscreen infotainment screen, automatic climate control, Level 1 ADAS, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, electric sunroof, and OTA updates, among others. These high-end features are limited to upper variants.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Powertrain Options
The refreshed Kia Sonet retains its current engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivers 82 bhp and 115 Nm. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, available with 6iMT and 7DCT transmissions, produces 118 bhp and 172 Nm. Furthermore, the 1.5-litre diesel engine, offered with 6iMT and 6AT transmissions, generates 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
It's worth noting that the introductory price for the base variant (HTE 1.2 petrol MT) stands at Rs. 7.99 lakh, while the top-spec variant (X Line diesel AT) is priced at Rs. 15.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). It faces off against the likes of Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and Nissan Magnite.
