The refreshed 2024 Kia Sonet displays an updated design, highlighted by new LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers, vertically-stacked LED taillights, LED fog lights, and a redesigned rear skid plate. Notable improvements extend to an LED bar on the boot lid, updated bumpers, and fresh 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the Sonet features a larger infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster, aligning with the design language seen in the recently introduced Seltos SUV
Interior & Features
The 2024 Sonet introduces several new features, including a digital drivers display and a semi-powered drivers seat. Safety enhancements come in the form of a 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Retaining its premium offerings, the Sonet continues to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, and a Bose sound system.
In terms of safety, the Sonet remains comprehensive, offering six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Powertrain
The updated Kia Sonet maintains its existing engine lineup. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, available with 6iMT and 7DCT transmissions, delivers 118 bhp and 172 Nm. Additionally, the 1.5-litre diesel engine, offered with 6iMT and 6AT transmissions, generates 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
Anticipated to carry a premium over the current model, the pricing for the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is expected to start above the current Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It's set to go head-to-head with popular models like the Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and Nissan Magnite. The official launch date is set for January 12, 2024.
