Say hello to the new BMW R1300 GS Adventure, which appears to be the Godzilla version of the regular R1300 GS. BMW calls it the "Rock in the Surf," featuring newly designed cross-shaped LED headlights, the same 1300cc engine, and optional front radar-guided cruise control. This feature-rich, large adventure motorcycle boasts a host of new features available both as standard and optional. However, its unique selling point (USP) is its face. What's new in the BMW R1300 GS Adventure?
You'll find the same BMW boxer engine in this motorcycle as in the regular R1300, but the automaker has redesigned it to be more compact, with a new arrangement for the camshaft drive. This redesign is possible because the transmission is now located under the engine. It produces the same power145 HP at 7,750 RPM and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM, from the 1300cc engine.
The automaker uses a sheet metal shell for the new suspension, offering great stiffness and optimized installation space. Additionally, the Adventure variant features an aluminum rear frame made from lattice tubes and forged parts. This combination enhances steering precision and riding stability, making it ideal for both rough terrains and highway cruising.
Get ready to make the most out of your off-roading experience via the new "Enduro" mode. BMW adds the fourth driving mode in the Adventure varient post to, Rain, Road and Eco modes. It changes up the suspension setting to provide the best experience on the off-beaten track.
The Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) automates clutch and gearbox functions, bringing us closer to BMW Moto's goal of "Simplify Your Ride." Additionally, gears can be operated manually or automatically. This tech will soon be available as a option in the 2025 BMW R1300 GS.
Some other new features BMW has added in the R1300 GS include:
- Full LED headlights in new matrix design and auxiliary headlights as standard.
- Optional lean-sensitive adaptive headlight.
- Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC)
- Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning and the new
- Rear End Collision Warning (RECW)
- New aluminium top case with load capacity of 10 Kg
- 30-liter aluminium fuel tank with clever mounting options
- Keyless Ride (steering, ignition and fuel tank lock).
- Tyre Pressure Monitor.
- Engine drag torque control.
The expected price of the BMW R1300 GS Adventure?
The regular R1300 GS starts at Rs 20.95 lakh (ex-showroom), and I anticipate the Adventure variant will start around Rs 24 to 25 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch is expected in the upcoming months, and it will compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4, Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, and Triumph Tiger 1200.
