Mercedes Benz has been recently spotted testing the forthcoming Mercedes Benz S-Class. The test mules were prototypes of the upcoming S Class which will make its debut by late 2025. The presently available Mercedes Benz S-Class made its debut in 2021. So, now the automaker is planning to give its flagship sedan a refreshing update.

Mercedes Benz S-Class Spyshots Reveals
However, the test mule was heavily camouflaged, but it reveals some key design elements of the upcoming flagship sedan. The test mule shows was seen with a bigger grille and an updated set of lights on both sides. While the headlamps looked similar to the current S-Class, there were new taillights with three-pointed star motifs probably for turn signals.
The new grille on the 2026 S-Class is bigger than the current-gen model and extends to the lower part of the sedan. The brand covered the rear profile with heavy camouflage which clarifies some major changes at the back side too. The luxury sedan is also expected to come with a new dashboard layout.
Mercedes Benz S-Class Powertrains
The current-gen S-Class Mercedes comes powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged inline 6 paired with mild hybrid in the S 500. While the S 580e grade gets the same powerhouse with a plug-in hybrid setup. There's also a non-electric twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 engine option for the S580 grade.
On the other hand, the S 63 E Performance AMG gets a twin-turbo V-8 engine with a plug-in hybrid setup. This configuration generates a maximum power of 791 bhp. The top-end model S 680 Maybach comes equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.0 litre V 12 which generates 621 bhp of power.
