- Safari & Harrier are Tata's most tech & feature loaded vehicles
- Tata Hexa use to offer certain features which the current Safari & Harrier misses out on
- Here's a list of 5 Tata Hexa features that Safari & Harrier do not get
The newer generation vehicles from Tata Motors are highly equipped when it comes to features. SUVs like Tata Harrier & Safari are loaded with comfort, convenience, entertainment, tech, and connectivity features. Not just that, many current generation Tata cars give tough competition to their rivals from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, etc when it comes to offering segment best and segment-first features. Still, some old Tata cars like Hexa use to offer certain features that even the newer Tata cars miss out on. Here's a list of 5 features from Tata Hexa that no new or current Tata models have.
Rear Window Curtains/Sunblinds
The retractable rear window curtain/sunblinds are one feature that the Hexa use to offer but no car in Tata's current lineup has it. Even Safari, the flagship product of Tata Motors, does not offer rear window curtains/sunblinds. However, there are certain aftermarket accessories & solutions for this.
Multicolor Ambient Lighting
The Tata Hexa had an 8 color ambient lighting setup inside its cabin. The user could choose the color and other related settings using the touchscreen in the Hexa. Although the current Tata Safari & Harrier gets ambient lighting setup, it's just a single color setup, unlike Hexa's multicolor one.
AWD/4WD System
Tata Hexa was the last Tata SUV with an all-wheel drive/4-wheel drive system. Since then, Tata has launched the Harrier and Safari, but none of the two get an AWD or 4WD system. However, at the 2023 auto expo, the brand announced that it plans to launch the Harrier EV with an AWD system comprising dual electric motors, one on each axle. We hope that the legacy of the old Tata Safari & the Tata Hexa will return with the Harrier EV in the future.
19-Inch Alloy Wheels
The Tata Hexa was unique as it was offered with 19-inch alloy wheels. Even today, no SUV in the segment offers 19-inch alloys. On the other hand, the current Tata Safari gets 18-inch alloys. There's a possibility that future Tata SUVs like the upcoming new-gen Sierra may get 19-inch alloys.
Bonnet With Hydraulic Struts
Tata Hexa had a bonnet with hydraulic struts. Though this is not that important of a feature, it still makes accessing the bonnet much easy for everyone, be it males, females, disabled people, or even amateur drivers. Also, currently, no SUV in the segment offers hydraulic struts in the bonnet.

Verdict: Although we miss 5 of the above-mentioned features from Tata Hexa, Tata needs to be commended for equipping their newer and current models with state-of-the-art, best-in-the-segment, and first-in-segment features. Tata cars now offer truly world-class safety features and several India-specific comfort and convenience features. Plus both the Harrier and Safari look extremely good as well!
