Aprilia Tuono 457

The Tuono 457 was unveiled at the 2024 EICMA, and it is the second model based on the 457 platform. Like the RS 457, the Tuono 457 will also be built at Piaggio India's Baramati plant. The Tuono 457 carries over the same 457cc, liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine, producing 46.9bhp at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6700rpm, with a shorter final drive ratio to enhance the engine's responsiveness.

The hardware is also identical to the RS 457; it carries over the same 41mm USD forks with 120mm of travel, and a monoshock with 130mm of travel. It uses a 320mm disc at the front with radially-mounted four-piston ByBre callipers, along with a 220mm rear disc.

In terms of design, the Tuono 457 is rather different from the other Tuonos in Aprilia's global lineup, and it is possible that the bikemaker may update the rest of the Tuonos to this design in the near future.

The Tuono 457 is likely to be launched at the 2025 Auto Expo, and it will go up directly against the Yamaha MT-03. However, the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and the TVS Apache RTR 310 could also be considered as potential rivals.

Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition

The RS 660 Limited Edition is also listed on Aprilia India's website, and only 1500 units of it will be sold globally. The RS 660 Limited Edition pays homage to the bikemaker's victory at the American Twins Cup, and as such, it is differentiated via various things. Its livery is inspired by the American flag, and it also gets an inverted gear shift pattern similar to some race-spec motorcycles, a single-seat setup, and an oversized windscreen.

The rest of the motorcycle remains identical to the standard RS 660, featuring the same 659cc parallel-twin engine, putting out 100;5bhp at 10,500rpm and 67Nm of torque at 8500rpm. The RS 660 also comes with multimap cornering ABS, 5 riding modes, dual-channel ABS, wheelie control, and traction control among other things.

Other Expectations From Aprilia

Aprilia India will also likely showcase the updated range of motorcycles it had launched in 2024. These include the RSV4 Factory, the RS 660, Tuono 660, and the Tuareg 660.

As for the scooters, Aprilia India's lineup currently consists of the SR 160, SR 125, SXR 160, and the SXR 125. These scooters remain unchanged from their last upgrades, and Aprilia is unlikely to revamp them around the time of the 2025 Auto Expo. However, they are also likely to be shown and Aprilia may possibly announce its plans to upgrade them further.

Verdict

With the Tuono 457, Aprilia India will be entering the naked motorcycle segment, which already consists of the 390 Duke and the MT-03. This rivalry will make things interesting, especially if Aprilia gets its pricing right. As for the scooters, they are in need of a generational update.
