Aprilia 457 Tuareg Makes Its First Spy Shot Debut

A mysterious motorcycle recently spotted navigating a desert terrain, has sparked speculation among enthusiasts. The bike, adorned with rally-specific navigation equipment and rider attire, bears a striking resemblance to Aprilia's RS 457, particularly in its left-engine case design. But since it clearly says Tuareg 457, it is pretty evident that the RS457 is soon getting a rally sibling based on the same platform. The radiator's size and the single front disc brake further hint at a potential adventure bike, aligning with rumors of a smaller, twin-cylinder adventure offering from the brand.

The production-spec Tuareg 457 will trade the hardcore rally-ready aesthetic for a little more road-focused design. The towering navigation system will give way to a smaller TFT display, and the dramatic headlight assembly will be toned down. The rear seat and panel will likely be replaced with a more practical setup, including provisions for a pillion rider. However, the adventure spirit remains strong. The chassis and subframe looks specifically designed for the Tuareg, further reinforcing its adventure-oriented nature.

As for the powertrain, it is expected to come with the same 47 bhp, 457cc, twin-cylinder engine as the RS 457, though Aprilia may retune it to better suit the Tuareg's character and intended use. However, with a debut expected at EICMA 2024, it is likely to make its India debut soon after that.

Verdict

Aprilia RS 457 has been a head-tuner in Indian biking space, impressing the riders with its pure sports look and the thrilling ride performance. Based on the same platform, the Tuareg 457 is sure to attaract decent interest, especially at a time when Himalayan and the KTM 390 ADV are all gaining significant traction in the market. However, the pricing will be crucial to its overall success as and when it is launched.
