Aprilia Tuono 457 Launched; Details!

The Tuonos have always been the naked performers in the Aprilia lineup, and things remain the same in this case as well. While most Tuonos appear similar globally, the Tuono 457 takes on a fresh new design language with a completely head setup. The projector headlamp setup is completely different, and the twin DRLs get a sharper, more angular shape. The winglet-like treatment underneath the headlamp looks interesting as well.

The muscular appearance is further aided by the fuel tank, which also gets aggressive-looking shrouds, along with the use of thick rubber. The mechanical bits are covered in a mix of black and chrome, and it also receives an underbelly exhaust. The rear of the Tuono 457 appears familiar, as it gets the same tail light as its fully-faired sibling.

The same liquid-cooled, 457cc, twin-cylinder engine makes an appearance here as well. This powertrain produces 46.9bhp at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6700rpm. However, the final drive chain has been shortened to make it more responsive to throttle inputs and suit the naked streetfighter nature.

In terms of hardware, most parts are shared between the RS 457 and the Tuono 457. It continues to be built on a dual-beam aluminium frame, which is suspended on 41mm USD forks with 120mm of travel, along with a monoshock with 130mm of travel. It also makes use of a 320mm floating disc with radially-mounted four-piston ByBre callipers, along with a 220mm rear disc.

The Tuono 457 will also carry over the same 5-inch TFT screen, with smartphone connectivity, three riding modes, ride-by-wire, traction control modes, a bi-directional quick shifter, and dual-channel ABS among other things.

Verdict
The Tuono 457 will be very interesting, as it will be among the few Italian motorcycles available in this price range. An affordable Italian naked has been long overdue anyway, and the Tuono 457 might just be what buyers flock towards, considering how committed the RS 457 can be.
