BMW F 450 GS: Design

The BMW F 450 GS was showcased in its concept stage at the EICMA last year and also made headlines at the Auto Expo 2025. The manufacturing and reveal of this motorcycle is slated for the end of 2025 in India and will be exported from here as well. Drawing inspiration from the flagship BMW R 1300 GS, this adventure-focused machine sports classic ADV design cues including raised fenders, long-travel suspension, knobby tires, and a high-mounted exhaust. The headlight setup is a direct lift from the R 1300 GS as well, further emphasizing the family connection.

The F 450 GS concept rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, with cross-spoke rims as standard and optional high-strength cast aluminum wheels available. Suspension duties will be handled by a fully adjustable inverted fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock, both designed for serious off-road adventures. BMW Motorrad is targeting a curb weight of approximately 175kg, which would make the F 450 GS remarkably light for its classsignificantly lighter than the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, for example, which will be its direct rival.

Engine: Newly Developed 450cc Mill At Task
BMW Motorrad revealed that the F 450 GS will be powered by a parallel-twin engine with what they're calling a never-seen-before ignition offset. This new mill will churn a peak power output of 48 bhp, and the engine is being tuned with a focus on strong low-end torque, similar to the approach taken with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This all-new inline twin-cylinder engine promises to be quite potent for a sub-500cc machine and even higher than the Himalayan.
While the global debut will be by the end of 2025, expect the India launch by early 2026. The BMW F 450 GS is expected to be priced around the Rs 4.5 lakhs ex-showroom mark with a direct rivalry with the likes of RE Hilamalyan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and others.
Verdict
The BMW F 450 GS is clearly aimed at taking on established rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the KTM 390 Adventure. Its parallel-twin engine makes it stand out in this class, as many competitors utilize single-cylinder powerplants. However, enthusiasts will have to wait patiently for more details, which BMW Motorrad will release closer to the bike's launch by the end of 2025.
