Citroen Basalt India Reveal On August 2 Confirmed
Citroen India is preparing for the launch of the Citroen Basalt, a coupe SUV based on the C3 Aircross platform, scheduled to debut on August 2, 2024. Following the unveiling, pricing details will be disclosed in the subsequent weeks. From teaser images and various spy shots, it's evident that the Basalt will feature Citroen's distinctive design language mimicking the C3 Aircross, highlighted by a signature two-slat grille integrating seamlessly with the LED DRLs in a Y-shaped pattern. The coupe SUV will also showcase a bold front bumper design with a wide radiator grille, exuding an aggressive styling.
In terms of features and interior, the Citroen had always kept the cabin just functional. This is something that has been voiced time and again that some essential amenities were left behind for a more affordable vehicle, especially with the C3 Aircross. This one isn't the regular model. Citroen is going all in and is expected to offer a rich set of feature list, surpassing the existing lower models. The interior of the Citroen Basalt will reflect the sophisticated design cues seen in its C3 and C3 Aircross counterparts but with a more modern touch. At the heart of the cabin will be a prominent 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a modern digital instrument cluster. Expect amenities such as automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and an engine start-stop function for added convenience. Keyless entry and power-adjustable wing mirrors with automatic dimming rearview mirrors are also anticipated. While specific details are pending, the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) seems likely, aligning with recent industry trends.

Powertrain Options
The upcoming Citroen Basalt will continue with the same 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine of the C3 Aircross that churns out 109 bhp pf power and a peak torque of 205 Nm. It is expected to be offered with both a manual as well as an automatic option. Going head to head with the upcoming Tata Curvv coupe SUV, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 12 lakhs ex-showroom.
Apart from the Tata rival, it would impact the conventional compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Setos, Honda Elevate, and more.
