Citroen Basalt New Promotional Film Reveals

The Citroen's recent promotional film showcases some basic yet needed upgrades on the Basalt SUV. It confirms rear AC vents mounted on the floor, powered window buttons on the doors and last but not least electric-controlled wing mirrors. Here, it should be noted that all these three features are upgrades over the C3 Aircross SUV. The C3 Aircross compact SUV gets power window control on the centre console in the front. So, positioning these buttons will enhance the convenience of the passenger all in all.

Rear AC Vents Mounted on Floor

Apart from this, the five-seater version of the C3 Aircross SUV lacks rear AC vents and 7 seater version gets them on the roof which seems quite impractical. So positioning the AC vents on the Basalt SUV gives it a premium look and increases comfort as well.

Possibility of a Variant with Sunroof?

Taking note of the repositioning of the AC vents suggests that Citroen can launch a variant with a sunroof in future, but for now, we will not see this feature on the coupe SUV. Another noticeable upgrade is the electric retract for the wing mirrors which Citroen C3 Aircross misses even now. So, this is also a worthy addition to the Basalt.

The coupe SUV will get features such as toggle switches for crucial controls, automatic climate control, front armrests, and rear headrests.

Citroen Basalt: Engine

The Citroen Basalt will derive its powertrain from the C3 Aircross SUV. Reportedly, It will get the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which is capable of making 110 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque. For the transmission duties, there will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter unit on offer.

Expected Pricing

Taking note of the Basalt's positioning above the C3 Aircross, we can expect it to arrive on Indian shores with a price tag of Rs. 11 lakh, going up to 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will lock its horns with the Tata Curvv, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
