Tata Motors showcased the Altroz EV at the 2020 Auto Expo but with the COVID-19 becoming the talk of the town, the launch is now scheduled for 2021. And in this article, we give you a total of five reasons that why we think that Altroz EV will be a game-changer for Tata Motors!
The only hatchback to offer Petrol, Diesel and Electric
With its launch, the Altroz will be the only hatchback which will come with petrol and diesel engines along with an electric battery. The former ICE units are already BS6 compliant and we can also see new a new turbo petrol engine which will be sourced from Tata Nexon.
New design on the outside and inside
Like the petrol and diesel models, the Altroz EV gets a new ice blue colour that we have seen in the Nexon EV. Also, the front and rear bumpers have been tweaked a bit and notice the blue colour finish on the beltline that runs below the windows. The cabin looks like your normal Altroz except for the blue inserts on the centre console and AC vents. You also get a rotary dial for the selection of gears rather than the typical one found in standard Altroz.

Battery Expected To Be Sourced Directly From Tata Nexon EV
The electric version of Altroz uses the same Ziptron technology as found in its elder sibling, Nexon EV. This allows comprising a permanent magnet AC motor that sources the power to the front wheels via a single-speed gearbox. It is expected that the Altroz EV will use the same 30.2 kWh battery pack which gets a claimed range of 312 kilometres. It makes as much as 129 PS with a maximum torque of 245 Nm. Also, it will support fast charging which will help to juice up the battery from 0-80% in under 60 minutes with the help of a DC Charger.
No Competition from the rival brands
Tata Altroz will be the only electric hatchback present in the premium hatchback segment. This will allow Tata Motors to pace up with the sale of Altroz and with the pricing playing an important role, it can also dominate the electric cars below its segment.
Pricing
The price factor will play an important role in the sale of upcoming Altroz in 2021. We expect that the pricing for the same will be between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh! The current pricing of the Tata Altroz sticks between Rs 5.29 lakh to Rs 9.35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
