- Toyota discontinued the Urban Cruiser from its lineup last year
- Currently, there's no compact SUV in Toyota's India lineup
- Toyota is expected to soon bring its version of the Maruti Fronx
- Here's a rendered image of how it might look like
Toyota India discontinued its compact SUV Urban Cruiser last year from the Indian market. Since then, the brand has had no compact SUV in its India lineup. This is a major segment where Toyota is lagging behind its competitors. However, Totota too knows this and therefore they are rumored to be working on their own version of the Maruti Fronx. Toyota's version of the Maruti Fronx will not be just a rebadged version of its Maruti counterpart, but it will be slightly different in design, just like in the case of the Toyota Hyryder. Moreover, a digitally rendered image of the Maruti Fronx-based Toyota compact SUV has surfaced on the internet. Here we will take a look at this rendered image and go through other details about this upcoming Toyota compact crossover SUV.
Maruti Fronx Based Toyota's New Compact SUV: Rendered Image
The rendered image of the Maruti Fronx-based new compact crossover SUV from Toyota has surfaced online. The car in the image clearly resembles the soon-to-launch Maruti Fronx. However, the front of the vehicle does look different from its Maruti counterpart because of the differently designed headlamps, grills, and bumpers. Also, there are front fog lamps present in this rendered image, whereas the Maruti Fronx misses out on it.
From the side, there's only one difference visible, it's the alloy wheel design. Apart from it, there's no difference between this rendered Toyota SUV and the Maruti Fronx. Moreover, as the rear profile and design of the vehicle can not be seen in the rendered image of the Toyota SUV, we predict that Toyota will carry forward most of the rear design of the Maruti Fronx with only a few expected changes in the rear bumper of this new SUV.
Toyota's New Compact Crossover SUV With A New Name
Several media reports and rumors have suggested that the new Maruti Fronx-based compact crossover from Toyota will be called Taisor when it is launched in India. As a matter of fact, the name Taisor has also been trademarked by Toyota in India. The Toyota Taisor will be the fourth product coming out of the partnership between the two Japanese automakers. The other three are the Glanza/Baleno, Urban Cruiser/Brezza, and the recent Grand Vitara/Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Verdict: Since the discontinuation of the Urban Cruiser, Toyota has had a gap in its India lineup. Toyota seriously needs to add a compact SUV in its lineup, between the Glanza & the Hyryder. The Maruti Fronx, which is a compact crossover SUV, seems like a perfect candidate for Toyota to fill this gap and regain its lost market share in the compact SUV segment.
