Honda Activa 6G Smart Details
The new Activa Smart variant is the first scooter with OBD-2 sensors from Honda. The government of India is going to imply new emission norms from April. According to these norms, the real-world emission will be tested for the products including all types of vehicles. Hence, every manufacturer is revising their lineup to comply with the new norms. HMSI has updated the MY23 Activa with the OBD-2 update to make it valid on the RDE norms. Hence, a new update along with a new Smart variant was launched.
The Smart variant is similar to the Standard & Deluxe variants. The design is also identical but only with a few upgrades. The scooter is available in a total of six colour options. Additionally, it gets the first smart key feature in the segment. The smart key allows the user to ride it without using a manual key. Meanwhile, this key can lock or unlock the scooter from a distance. Also, the user can locate the scooter in parking plazas with the help of this key. Moreover, the Smart addition gets bigger 12-inch wheels and exclusive paint options.
Technically the Smart variant is the same as the standard Activa. It uses the 109.51cc, single-cylinder engine that is BS-6 compliant as well. This engine makes a peak power output of 7.79 PS & a max torque of 8.79 Nm. As per the latest information, the scooter is now being delivered to the first batch of customers.
Verdict
Honda Activa 6G is the best-selling scooter in India. It has also been a superhit product for HMSI in India. Now, with the addition of smart features & OBD-2 sensors; it will sell even more. Some of its main rivals are - TVS Jupiter & Hero Maestro Edge 110.
