Honda Activa EV Launched Confirmed: Slated For March 2025
After years of development, the electric version of the Honda Activa is set to make its debut. Tsutsumu Otani, CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Ltd., announced at the 64th Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) that the Honda Activa Electric will be launched in March 2025. This will finally put Honda on the map of electric 2-wheelers, a journey, it is yet to embark upon.
The upcoming Honda Activa Electric will debut on a new platform known as Platform E, featuring a swingarm-mounted motor, as revealed in recent patent drawings. This new scooter aims to cater to the mass market, aligning with Hondas strategy for broad appeal. It is expected to come equipped with modern features such as a touchscreen instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, hill-hold assist, reverse mode, riding modes, and potentially keyless entry. As a family-friendly scooter, it will also offer ample underseat storage, a front glove box, and convenient storage hooks.

Although not officially confirmed, some details have been confirmed about Honda's upcoming electric scooter. The entry-level model is expected to feature a fixed battery and a more utilitarian design. In contrast, the premium version will offer swappable batteries and enhanced performance. Additionally, Honda plans to implement battery-swapping stations at over 6,000 locations across the country, aiming to alleviate range anxiety for future e-scooter owners.
I believe that Honda will position Active Electric as a premium offering considering its hold in the ICE scooter market, where it will rival the likes of Ola S1 Pro, Ather Rizta, Hero Vida V1, and other electric movers. As for the pricing, it could very well be placed around Rs. 1.3- 1.5 lakhs mark.
