Honda Cars India has flagged off 11th Edition of their annual 'Drive To Discover' Edition. This drive is 700 km long from Bengaluru to Kochi and it features the leading sedans from the Japanese carmaker. The theme of this 11th edition is 'Sedan and Stunning', hence it consists of only the popular sedans like Honda Amaze, 5th-gen City and their flagship sedan, City e:HEV.
The schedule from Day 1 was to drive from Bengaluru to Coorg. The total distance we covered today was 295 km and it was quite a scenic view. Honda gave us the free hand as there was no convoy and we explored some of the off-beat locations which were quite good.
Today, we drove the Honda City e:HEV, their flagship sedan. Powered by a 1.5-litre, Atkinson petrol motor along with an advanced Lithium-ion battery unit. The City generates a useable power of 109 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 253 Nm. Honda claims that the fuel economy of the e:HEV City sticks to 26.5 kmpl which is quite higher than even the diesel version of the sedan. In fact, even after driving at speeds of 90-100 kmph, we received an astonishing mileage of 23 kmpl which is good in real-world driving conditions.
Driving this sedan was just seamless and it is a game changer for those looking for an efficient car with a budget of Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It offers the right amount of punch to keep the driving engaging, the responsive steering is better at city and highways speeds and the stiffer suspension allows a planted ride on open roads.
Feature-wise too the City Hybrid is quite equipped as it gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control and more. However, we sensed some features are missing like the ventilated seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, 360-view camera etc.
