Adventure tourers are becoming very popular in the Indian market and the latest entrant in this segment is the Honda CB 500X. Honda Two-wheelers India recently launched the all-new Honda CB 500X in the country. The CB 500X is a middle-weight adventurer-tourer motorcycle from the house of this Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer. In this article, we have shared with you the Pros and Cons of the new 2021 Honda CB 500X BS6.
2021 Honda CB 500X - Pros and Cons
PROS
Design and Colour Shades on Offer - The new Honda CB 500X is a good looking motorcycle. Though the CB 500X is an adventure tourer, it looks very slim and has its own character. Also, out on the streets, it will have a good road presence. Talking about the colour shades on offer, it is available in two colour variants only. They are Grand Prix Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic.
Engine Performance - This is the main highlight of the CB 500X. The new Honda CB 500X is powered by a BS6 compliant 471cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, four-valve, fuel-injected engine. This BS6 motor churns out 47 PS of maximum power at 8500 RPM and 43.2 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and it gets a slip and assist clutch as standard. The engine of the Honda CB 500X is just fantastic.
Hardware - Though the CB 500X doesn't get premium hardware bits, it does its job really well. It gets telescopic forks at the front with 150 mm of travel and a mono-shock at the rear with 135 mm travel. The motorcycle gets disc brakes at either end with dual-channel ABS as standard. The CB 500X gets a 110/80-19 tyre at the front and a 160/60-17 tyre at the rear. These tyres are dual-purpose Dunlop Trailmax units.
Ergonomics and Versatility - Being an ADV, the new Honda CB 500X has very relaxed ergonomics and so one can comfortably do long journeys with it. Also, it is a versatile motorcycle and can be used as your daily runner too.
CONS
Lack of Features - The new Honda CB 500X gets all LED lights, an all-digital instrument cluster with some basic trip-related information, a slip and assist clutch, hazard light, etc. However, it doesn't get any fancy features which motorcycles even half its price get.
Not an Off-Roader - The Honda CB 500X is not a serious off-roader. It is just an adventure-tourer. The motorcycle doesn't get spoke wheels even as an option and the company has not provided even an engine bash plate.
Available Only Through BigWing Outlets - The Honda CB 500X is sold via Honda's premium BigWing dealerships and not through the regular outlets. The BigWing dealerships are available in very limited numbers and even all Tier-I cities do not have it, forget the small cities. Honda has promised that they will expand BigWing dealerships exponentially in the coming months but it will need some time for sure.
Very Expensive - Finally, coming to its main negative point and that is its price. The Honda CB 500X has been launched in India at Rs. 6.87 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. The CB 500X has been priced ridiculously in India and it has been priced much more than what the company should have been.
