Honda Elevate SUV - What To Expect?
The upcoming Elevate SUV is expected to become one of the biggest SUVs in its segment. Honda has designed the Elevate in a typical old-fashioned way of SUVs. Most of the design is boxy or rectangular with prominent bonnet & shoulder lines. Hence, the appeal of Elevate SUV is unique in itself. However, it is what it offers that matters. Inside the cabin, it'll get all of the creature comforts which are now a segment standard. For example, a bigger touchscreen infotainment, digital cockpit, leather upholstery, etc., shall be offered on it. Additionally, Honda has equipped its top trims with an electric sunroof as well as ADAS safety features.
Meanwhile, it'll be offered with a single engine option i.e. a 1.5-lt NA petrol. This powertrain is carried forward from the Honda City itself. It makes 121 PS of peak power and it'll be available with either a 6-speed MT or a CVT automatic transmission option. While there were speculations at its debut that Honda will offer a strong hybrid like the City; Honda has clearly declined the possibility of it. Hence, no turbo-petrol, no diesel, & no strong hybrid powertrain options will be offered on it (even in the forthcoming future). Its primary competition is - Hyundai Creta, the new KIA Seltos, & Maruti Grand Vitara.
Verdict
Honda Elevate is the first proper mid-size SUV from the company i India. However, we think that Honda is a bit late to the party. With no offering of turbo or diesel powertrains, Honda is ready to take big leap of faith towards the Indian customers. It'll be launching on September 4 & we suspect that its pricing will remain around Rs 10-17 lakh. You tell us in the comments about your thoughts on the upcoming Elevate.
