Honda Might Bring In A Cheaper CR-V Priced At Rs 22 Lakh

Honda is planning to bring in an affordable variant of the CR-V and if the reports are to be believed then it will be priced around Rs 22 lakh. Yes, the soft SUV which locks its horns in the reign of mighty Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour will be a affordable one to choose from.

This move is taken as to rise up the sales of the CR-V as the SUV is already in low demands. Being available in a single variant, the ex-showroom, Delhi is priced at Rs 28.27 lakh which is quite high for a petrol powered SUV. Also, it does not get a 4x4 or AWD set up.

Earlier, the CR-V was available with a diesel engine too and in its 7-seat layout with AWD but that was soon discontinued when the Indian market transitioned from BS4 to BS6. The diesel was a good deal for people who were looking for a humble and reliable unit.

Currently, the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine of the CR-V makes as much as 152 bhp with a maximum torque of 189 Nm. It gets a CVT gearbox.

Sharing details on the launch of a new base variant, we can expect it to launch in about two to three weeks from now. Also, Honda could provide further discount to boost up the sales of the CR-V. This is for sure that the new base variant will miss out on most features the top end gets.

Features like a panoramic sunroof, lane assist system, LED headlights, 6 airbags, cruise control, electrically adjustable drivers seat, leatherette upholstery, automatic headlights could be missed in the base variant which is launching soon.

In other news, Honda recently launched a special edition variant to their popular selling compact sedan Amaze. This new addition is done to imporve sales in the upcoming festive season and draw up more numbers. The special edition is based on the S variant and carries several changes.

Also, there are reports that Honda might bring in the diesel engine of the CR-V. The 120 bhp engine was mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox was a better deal to buy since it delivered more mileage and offered an extra 2 seats at the rear.
