Honda GB500 Trademarked
Honda Motorcycles recently filed a trademark for GB500 under the motorcycles and motorcycles part category. The brand has also trademarked the GB500 in the United States and has received it from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The company has also got trademark approval from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). With these trademark filings and approval, it is now confirmed that Honda will soon come up with a 500cc middleweight motorcycle and that too with an affordable price tag. If positioned strategically in the category, the GB500 could be a great answer to the Royal Enfiled dominance in the respective category.
Honda GB500: Features and Design
The Euro-spec Honda GB500 will use a tubular steel frame suspended by telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. The braking duties will be handled by discs at both sides with dual-channel ABS standard across all variants. The GB500 gets a retro-classic design which includes a circular headlamp, single-piece seat, rearview mirrors and a tear-drop-like fuel tank.
Powertrain
The Honda GB500 is expected to be powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The powerhouse on offer will make around 30 bhp. For context, the smaller CB350 available in our market generates 20 bhp. Although, an increase of just 10 bhp would not sound impressive to performance enthusiasts. This could be a reason for Honda going with a liquid-cooled or twin-cylinder option which will be capable of generating more power.
