In the past two years, Hyundai Motor India Ltd has already launched around 10 to 12 models. This, even when the COVID situation in the country painted a pretty grim picture and most carmakers simply deferred their product launches indefinitely in wait for better times.
In response to the market conditions, Hyundai Motor India Ltd is rather aggressive with its SUV and crossover strategies for our market. Currently, Hyundai Venue is the entry point into the company's high-riding offering in India while the Bayon plays the same role in Europe. Reports abound that Hyundai, for now, has no plans to launch the Casper in India due to its ultra-compact design. The SUV will be launched in South Korea as a light car (or a sub-3.6-metre car) for tax benefits. It is as big as the Hyundai Santro, which has been a competitor to the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Renault Kwid in India.
Hyundai has completed 25 years of presence in India, so, in the words of Tarun Garg, Sales, Service and Marketing, Director, Hyundai Motor India is also in the prime of youth and wants to bring in a new range of cars to cater to the local car buyers. And hence, there is a long list of models that will be launched in our market. However, with regards to the introduction of Casper here, he has said that the market research is underway to study the new customer trends and keeping these in mind, it will be decided if Hyundai Casper will be introduced here.

In South Korea, the Hyundai Casper will be powered by 67PS 1-litre MPI and 100PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engines. It is expected to be launched sometime in 2022. Hyundai will be offering the Casper in South Korea with two front-end design options. In both cases, the integrated DRLs and indicators are connected by a black strip. It has a large grille that also houses the spherical headlamps which also feature illuminated rings. One looks sportier with a patterned grille while the other has a more open grille design with two more spheres between the headlamps that seem to be rally-inspired.
