Hyundai Motors India has finally revealed the first teaser poster for its upcoming micro SUV named Exter. The new micro SUV is expected to launch in India in a month or two. The latest Hyundai Exter teaser comes with the tagline saying "Coming soon to take you places - Think Outside, Think Exter." Hyundai will place the new Exter micro SUV below the Venue in its lineup. Moreover, this new entrant in the sub-10 lakh micro SUV segment will have to face fierce competition from a number of rivals. Hence, here's a list of 4 main rivals of the upcoming new Hyundai Exter micro SUV.
Hyundai Exter Micro SUV Will Rival Tata Punch
Tata Motors micro SUV Punch is one of the most popular and higher selling vehicles in India. It manages almost every time to rank in the top 10 best-selling cars list in India. That's because till now it didn't have any direct serious rival. However, the upcoming Hyundai Exter is set to arrive as the main rival of the Tata Punch in the micro SUV segment. The Punch comes with a single naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 87 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed AMT automatic. On the features front, it offers automatic headlamps & wipers, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a reverse camera, a rear central armrest, traction pro mode in AMT, cruise control, 6-speaker Harman audio setup, etc.
Hyundai Exter Micro SUV Will Rival Renault Kiger
Kiger is one of the most successful Renault vehicles in India. The compact SUV is also a Global Ncap 4-star rated vehicle, thus one of the safest in the segment. The soon-to-launch Hyundai Exter will rival the Kiger too. The Renault Kiger gets two engine options i.e. a 1 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72 PS of power & 96 Nm of torque, and a 1 litre turbo petrol engine producing 100 PS of power & 152 Nm of torque on the automatic/160 Nm of torque on manual. The NA engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed Easy-R AMT. The turbo engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. When it comes to features, the Kiger comes loaded with a wireless charger, wireless Android auto/Apple car play, cruise control, TPMS, ESP, 4 airbags, traction control, hill hold, rear AC vents, 6-speaker setup, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, 7-inch instrument cluster display, etc.
Hyundai Exter Micro SUV Will Rival Nissan Magnite
Nissan Magnite, currently Nissan's only car on sale in India, will soon get a new rival in the form of the Hyundai Exter. The Nissan Magnite is considered one of the most value-for-money compact SUVs your money can buy. It is available in two engine options i.e. a 1 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1 litre turbo petrol. The naturally aspirated petrol produces 72 PS of power & 96 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The turbo petrol on the other hand produces 100 PS of power and 152 Nm of torque on automatic/160 Nm of torque on manual. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic. Nissan offers many segment-best features like a 360-degree view camera, wireless Android auto/apple car play, wireless charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, 7-inch instrument cluster display, connected car tech, cruise control, ESP, traction control, hill hold, etc.
Hyundai Exter Micro SUV Will Rival Maruti Fronx
The new Maruti Fronx could be another rival to the Hyundai Exter. The Maruti Fronx is expected to launch very soon, probably by the end of this month or early next month. The compact crossover SUV is expected to be placed in the same price segment as the Tata Punch or the Hyundai Exter, that's the sub-10 lakh micro SUV segment. The Maruti Fronx comes in a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1 litre turbo petrol engine. The NA engine produces 89 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque whereas the turbo engine produces 100 PS of power and 147 Nm of torque. The NA petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The turbo petrol comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. On the features front, Maruti has loaded the Fronx with HUD (heads-up display), 360-degree camera, 9-inch infotainment system, cruise control, mild hybrid tech, tilt & telescopic steering, 6 speaker audio setup, 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold, etc.
