Maruti Suzuki has once again won the hearts of Indian car buyers with the release of the much-anticipated fourth-generation Swift. The new Swift has hit the ground, recording impressive sales of 19,393 units. Hyundais Creta, while experiencing a drop in sales compared to April, still managed to secure the fourth position with 14,662 units sold. This dip in sales is partly attributed to the 18th Lok Sabha elections and the intense heat waves that swept across India, affecting overall car sales.
Maruti Suzuki Sales Analysis
Even with a 41.3% market share, Maruti Suzuki has seen many of its vehicle sales underperforming each month. For instance, the Wagon R dropped from 17,850 sales in April 2024 to 14,492 in May 2024. Similarly, the premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Baleno saw its sales decrease from 14,049 units in April 2024 to 12,842 in May 2024.

In the list of the top 10 highest-selling cars, Mahindra has only one vehicle: the mighty Scorpio, which has consistently maintained its sales figures. Not even significant events like the Indian general election could impact it, with 13,317 units delivered.
