The Kia Carens facelift has been doing a lot of buzz on the internet with its spy shots emanating from different part of the country, shedding some light on all the interesting bits of updates coming with it. While its launch is now not very far away in the future, the latest reports hint that the refreshed model will continue alongside the existing one, as seen with the Toyota Innova in the past, but not necessarily on the same lines. Kia Carens Facelift To Exist With A New Moniker Alongside Current Model

The Carens facelift is probably going to co-exist with the current model in a different strategy being adopted by the brand. It's common for brands to continue selling an older version of a model alongside a newer one, as it makes the car more accessible to a wider audience and offers a competitive edge. The Kia Carens, which is in high demand in the fleet market, is expected to follow this strategy. The existing version will likely remain available for fleet customers and buyers looking for an affordable three-row SUV, while the updated Carens will cater to those seeking a more premium and sophisticated MPV experience.

As you have already seen with the Toyota Innova twins, the Crysta and the Hycross, the Carens facelift is also likely to adopt a new sub-name along with Carens, or a different name altogether. Not just this, it is also coming up with an electric version which will make its appeal even higher than it currently is. Kia is known for packing its vehicles with features that outshine the competition, and the Carens' facelift is no exception. The updated model is expected to bring a host of significant upgrades, including a 360-degree camera and an ADAS radar unit, both of which have been confirmed in spy shots. In addition, the refreshed Carens will likely offer a range of premium features such as an electric panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a premium Bose sound system, and an air purifier, further elevating its appeal.

Kia Carens Facelift: Engine Details

The updated Kia Carens will retain the current lineup of three engine options: two petrol and one diesel. The base petrol engine is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 1.5-liter diesel engine, offering 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque, is available with a choice of a 6-speed manual, iMT, or traditional automatic transmission. For those seeking more performance, a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine delivers 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque, offered with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed iMT.

Verdict

Kia Carens is one of the few MPVs that have made its place amongst the private and fleet buyers alike in a relatively short span of time. While the updated model will improve upon the already tech heavy MPV, the inclusion of an EV model will expand the customer base a lot more than before. However, the range and charging capabilities will ultimately make or break it.
