Kia is all set to launch its first electric car in India in June 2022. To be called the EV6, this new electric SUV will be imported into the country via the CBU route. The Kia EV6 will be one of the most premium electric vehicles in the country. Having said this, the Korean carmaker will start the Kia EV6 bookings in India from May 26. Here are all the details that you should know.
The Kia EV6 is based on the e-GMP platform that is specifically designed for electric vehicles. The SUV also boasts the new Opposite United design philosophy. The car will be a premium alternative to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 that too will be launched later this year. The brand is also expected to introduce the new e-Niro after the launch of the EV6 in India.
On the features front, the EV6 will boast LED headlights, a large sunroof, a dual-screen layout system inside the cabin and connected car tech. In addition to this, the EV6 also gets a new two-spoke steering wheel, heads-up display, ADAS safety features, and multiple riding options. Other features like auto climate control, push-button start, power windows, wireless chargers, etc are also expected to be on offer.
In the global markets, the Kia EV6 is available with multiple battery packs and powertrain options. To start with, there is a 58 kWh battery pack that is available with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) with a 170 hp single-motor set-up and all-wheel-drive (AWD) with a 235 hp, dual-motor set-up. Another larger 77.4 kWH battery pack is also on offer that is available with a 229 hp RWD variant and a dual-motor 325 hp AWD version. In addition to this, a range-topping GT variant is also on offer with an AWD layout that churns out 585 hp and 740 Nm.
