If the reports are to be believed, there is a solid discontinuation coming up. The KIA Seltos 1.5 liter diesel manual powertrain is likely to be axed soon. The reasons are not clear, but the move could be announced in the coming days. Although the line-up was updated to meet the emission norms just a few days back.

If and when this happens, the remaining powertrain options for the Seltos will include a 115PS/144Nm 1.5-liter petrol, 140PS/242Nm 1.4-liter turbo-petrol, and a 115PS/250Nm 1.5-liter diesel unit. But unlike before, the diesel unit will be available with a six-speed automatic only, while the petrol powertrains will continue with the standard six-speed manual. CVT and 7-speed DCT transmission options can also opt with the NA petrol and Turbo Petrol variants.
Features
The Kia Seltos offers a brimmed-up features list. It boasts a 10.25-inch infotainment system, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, a head-up display, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and remote engine start/stop. On the safety front, Six airbags are already coming as standard across variants. On top of that, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), brake assist, hill start assist, and a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors.
Price
The facelift of KIA Seltos is available in markets abroad, and it could make its way to India sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. The current Seltos continues to retail in India between Rs 10.69 lakh and Rs 19.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Hector, Skoda Kushaq and more.
VERDICT- Although KIA updated its lineup for RDE norms, this move is not yet clear. The reasoning, if this is found to be true, remains to be seen. But diesel is what most people liked in their SUVs. So, if you're eyeing the diesel manual KIA Seltos, you should probably go ahead. And even if not, you would still have the automatic variant, if that is something you are okay with.
