Now, if we talk about the powertrains of these SUVs, so both these SUVs get several engines and gearbox combinations. The Kia Seltos gets two petrol mills and an oil-burner. The first one is a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mill that churns out 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an IVT (CVT). It also gets a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a torque-converter automatic transmission. Then lastly, we have a powerful 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine too. This turbo petrol motor belts out 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission).
Talking about the Sonet, it gets a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only. It also gets a powerful BS6 compliant 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 120 PS of power and 171 Nm of peak torque. This turbo-petrol motor comes mated to a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) and a 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission). Lastly, we also have a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque and it comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, it also gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the diesel automatic version of the new Kia Sonet develops 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, which is around 15 PS and 10 Nm more than its manual variants.
