Mahindra Scorpio N Recalled To Replace Alternator Pulley, Re-torque Steering Shaft & More

2022 Mahindra Scorpio N

Mahindra has initiated a service campaign for Mahindra Scorpio-N owners, involving a series of proactive measures. These include replacing the alternator pulley, re-torquing the steering input shaft nut, and installing an additional clip on the transmission wiring for automatic transmission models. Additionally, the service includes software updates for the SRS ECU and EMS ECU. This service action is provided at no cost to owners and can be completed at their nearest service center. While the company's website currently does not reflect service action details based on VIN entry, Mahindra is actively contacting eligible customers directly.

The current recall applies specifically to model-year 2023 vehicles of the Mahindra Scorpio-N. One aspect of the service involves upgrading the alternator pulley design to reduce strain on the engine belt, thereby enhancing its durability and preventing premature wear. Another critical action is the re-torquing of nuts on the steering column shaft assembly to address reported issues of noise and vibration. Additionally, the service includes securing the transmission wiring harness with an additional clip to ensure its protection from potential damage. These repairs typically require less than a couple of hours and can be conveniently scheduled alongside routine maintenance or as a standalone service.

Verdict

Recalls are not something very common and in the same breath, also not rare. These call back situations arise when the manufacture notices a general trend in the complaints or wants to improve the functioning of a select part or area where it feels a need to provide additional convenence. However, if you own this SUV, we suggest you contact your service centre to find out if you vehicle is amongst the affected units or not.
