Mahindra to Launch 16 SUVs by 2030 - Thar EV, Scorpio Pickup and More

Mahindra is proactively working to add many more products to its portfolio by 2030. The automaker is reportedly planning to launch around 16 SUVs by the end of this decade, including the ICE and electric SUVs. After officially announcing the launch of seven new-born electric SUVs in India, the company has hinted that it will launch around nine ICE models, three of which will be updates for the existing models of the automaker and six will be all-new products in the automaker's portfolio. Upcoming Mahindra ICE SUVs

While the automaker is putting a considerable part of its finances and effort into enhancing its EV lineup in India, Mahindra is still focused on its ICE-powered SUV models. The automaker is on track to maintain the relativity of its existing SUV models.

1. Thar Armada

The highly awaited 5-door Thar, expected to come as the Thar Armada will be the first of the six upcoming SUV launches of the automaker. The Thar Armada will derive its mechanicals and other underpinning from its siblings, 3 Door Thar and Scorpio N. The lifestyle SUV will be offered in 3-engine options, according to the rumours.

2. Scorpio Pickup

There's also a huge probability of the launch of the Scorpio Pickup which was showcased as the concept in 2023. However, this model will be launched in South Africa and other countries before making its Indian debut.

3. Mahindra Bolero

The new Mahindra Bolero will also be one of the Mahindra's upcoming models. The new Bolero will be based on the all-new U171 platform which is currently in the development stage. There are various reports mentioning that the U171 platform will be utilized for many other upcoming products of the automaker such as the pickups and SUVs.

Scorpio N and XUV 700 Mid-cycle Updates

While the details about the upcoming ICE SUVs are scarce. However, the automaker will probably launch the updates for the existing XUV 700 and Scorpio N as these SUVs made their India debut in August 2021 and June 2022 respectively.

XUV 7XO (XUV 700 Facelift)

While we are not so sure about other upcoming updates or all-new SUVs. Mahindra has recently trademarked the XUV 7XO name that cues the launch of the XUV 700 update. Apart from this, the automaker has also trademarked the XUV 5XO and XUV 1XO names. However, we still lack the details of the aforementioned models.

7 Upcoming Mahindra EVs

Mahindra has been working on its upcoming born-EV portfolio for a long duration. These EVs will be based on Mahindra's own IND-GLOBAL (INGLO) platform and will arrive in India by late 2024 or early 2025. The born EV lineup will include the XUV.e9 coupe, the BE.05 SUV and the Mahindra XUV.e8.

Thar EV Also in Works

With its born-EV lineup, Mahindra is also developing the Thar EV. The battery size of the SUV will be between 60-80 kW and it will get up to 175 kW fast charging which will vary according to the model. The SUV will provide a driving range between 435 km and 455 km as per the WLTP cycle. Similar to most of the upcoming models, Thar EV will also be built on the INGLO platform. Additionally, the SUV will also get AWD and RWD options.
