MG Astor Black Storm Edition: What To Expect?
The teaser provides only a glimpse of what's to come, but it hints at a striking black paint scheme. We anticipate a host of cosmetic upgrades, including sleek black alloy wheels, a revamped grille, and tasteful blacked-out elements. Inside, we can only speculate about the possibility of a dark-themed cabin with premium black leather upholstery to complement the exterior's sophistication.
Astor holds the honor of India's first AI-equipped car, with an impressive 14 Level 2 autonomous features. This means you can look forward to a slew of advanced features in the upcoming launch, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch embedded LCD display, Multi Info Display, 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof for added luxury.
In terms of safety, it is expected to have ABS + EBD + Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Heated ORVM, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping/departure assist, high-beam assist, and blind-spot detection. It also comes with a 360-degree camera.

MG Astor Black Storm Edition: Powertrain
When it comes to power, the current MG Astor offers two petrol engine options. The 1.3-litre turbocharged engine delivers 138 bhp and 220 Nm of torque, exclusively paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine generates 108 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, offering the flexibility of a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission. While the teaser hasn't revealed much, it's expected that the new Astor Black Storm Edition will share the same powertrain options.
Verdict
Anticipation is high for this upcoming launch, even though the teaser hasn't given away much. Notably, a few months ago, MG introduced the Gloster Blackstorm Edition SUV, priced at Rs. 40.30 lakh in India. This new launch will pose a challenge to competitors, with the MG Astor going head-to-head with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and more.
