MG Motor India has now launched EX variants of their popular mid-size SUV, Astor and they are priced from Rs 10.22 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. These features miss out on safety tech like electronic stability control, hill-start control, hill descent control and traction control.
The Sharp EX variant which is based on the top of the line, Sharp trim loses out on lane change assist, blind-spot detection system and rear cross traffic alert. These safety features are removed from the Hyundai Creta rival owning to the shortage of semi-conductor chips that has hit several automakers.

Mechanically, MG Astor is powered by two engine options - 1.5L petrol and 1.3L turbo petrol. The former is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor that churns out 108 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 144 Nm. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets a CVT as an option.
The other and more powerful, 1.3-litre, turbocharged petrol motor belts out 138 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 220 Nm. This motor gets mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox only. There is no manual transmission on offer with this one.
In other news, MG Astor rival, Skoda Kushaq too gets a new variant with fewer features and the Czech carmaker has also replaced the larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a smaller 8.0-inch one.
