MG ES5 SUV Revealed: Potential MG ZS EV Replacement
MG Motor has unveiled the initial images and details of the all-new ES5 electric SUV. This model is anticipated to directly replace the MG ZS EV SUV, which is currently available in multiple markets, including India and others.
The ES5 will be launched as a global model, targeting markets such as Europe. MG, the British brand under Chinese ownership, has several new models lined up for India in the coming years, along with plans for a premium sales channel. However, the company has not confirmed if the ES5 will be offered in India. The SUV showcases a modern front design, drawing inspiration from other recent MG vehicles like the Cyberster and MG 4 hatchback, especially in the styling of its bumper and headlights.
Measuring 4.4 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height, the MG ES5 has a wheelbase of 2,730 mm, which is longer than that of the ZS EV at 2,585 mm. The SUV is equipped with a rear-wheel drive single-motor setup, producing 167 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It can reach a top speed of 170 kph and accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 8 seconds.
The MG ES5 is built on a new electric vehicle platform known as Nebula, developed specifically by its parent company, SAIC. This platform accommodates vehicles with a wheelbase of up to 3,100 mm and can support batteries measuring up to 2 meters in length.
