MG Excelor EV Trademark Filed - Unveil On 20 March?
The recently filed trademark name is a new name that we've not heard on any MG product in the international market. The Excelor EV might possibly be the rebadged version of an MG EV sold internationally under a different name. At the 2023 Auto Expo Motor Show, the brand has already showcased multiple EVs, and the Excelor could be one of those or might be a rebadged version of a Wuling EV, such as the Comet EV.
The Excelor EV might serve as a bridge between the Comet EV & the ZS EV. Both these EVs come with a big price gap and MG doesn't have any other electric product in the middle price segment. The upcoming EV could be a competitor to the Tata Nexon EV, aiding the brand in bridging the gap between the small hatchback and mid-size SUV segment.
MG Motor India has revealed a teaser of the upcoming event which says 'Welcoming A Brighter Tomorrow' and 'Drive Future', these phrases indicate that the brand might showcase or reveal an EV at the event.
Till now there has been no official confirmation about when the Excelor EV will come. The brand might have trademarked the name for future products or to safeguard its intellectual property in India.

Verdict
MG Motor India is set to announce its future plans for India on 20 March. Recently, JSW acquired 35% stake in Indian arm of the MG Motor. The brand might give a push to the EV development with its partnership with JSW. If the MG Excelor EV is launched in India, it is expected to sit in the segment where the Tata Nexon EV dominates the sales.
