MG Hector BLACKSTORM Edition: Walkaround
Adding to the visual appeal of the MG Hector, the brand has launched a dark edition of the same, named the BLACKSTORM. It is essentially a blacked-out paintjob along with red accents running around the exteriors and visual tweaks on the inside.
The headlamps feature red outlining and the ORVMs have a red strip. While the physical cuts and creases remain the same, it's the color scheme that shines. Where earlier cars were offered in a black paint option, it has now evolved to a whole new edition launch, albeit with some interesting and contrasting tweaks that offer something more than just dark.
Dark chrome elements, like brand logos, an Argyle-inspired Diamond Mesh front grille, skid plate inserts, tailgate garnish, and Body Side Cladding with Dark Chrome Finish, add sophistication. The premium look is further enhanced by Piano Black Roof Rails, an LED Headlamp with a Piano Black bezel, and Smoked Connecting Tail lights. Alloys are now dipped in pitch black, accentuated by red brake calipers for a sharp touch.
MG Hector BLACKSTORM: Interior And Features
The interior theme is now draped in all-black with the seat upholstery, gear lever, and steering all covered in pitch-black stitching. However, you do get gunmetal accents on the dashboard and the door panels for a heightened elegant exuberance. In terms of features, MG is known for its practical and tech-rich cabins, and Hector is no different. It continues with the same set of features like a vertically stacked 14-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, ADAS, and more. In terms of safety, you get 6 airbags, TPMS, 360-degree camera, ESC, and more. The new edition also offers the first-in-segment Digital Bluetooth Key and key-sharing capability and more than 75 connected features including 100 voice commands

Powertrain Options
The MG Hector Blackstorm retains its existing engine options. It offers a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, delivering 143 PS power and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The 2.0-litre diesel unit, on the other hand, offers more power at 170 PS with a peak torque of 350 Nm, coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Verdict
The BLACKSTORM is the third in the line-up after the same editions of the MG Astor and Gloster were launched earlier. While it will impart a fresh aura to the SUV, the Hector in general continues to sell in decent numbers and has a spot for itself in the SUV space.
