Today, after a lot of speculations and spy shots, the Kia Sonet facelift is officially revealed. While it brings forth the evolved version of the popular Kia sub-4 meter SUV, it does so with grace and staying true to the hype. However, how different is the new model from the outgoing version? What more does it add on top of the already brimmed-up Sonet that was on sale until now?
In this section, we tell you everything that the new Sonet offers over the pre-facelift version. Let's jump right into it.
1. New Design Elements
The initial impression unmistakably identifies this as the Sonet. The refreshed Sonet showcases a rejuvenated design with exterior updates that bring a sense of novelty. The changes include new LED headlamps featuring integrated LED DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers, vertically-stacked LED taillights, LED fog lights, a fresh rear skid plate, an LED bar on the boot lid, and updated bumpers. The side profile is adorned with new 16-inch alloy wheels. Internally, the Sonet's cabin boasts a larger infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster, aligning with the design elements introduced in the new Seltos SUV.

2. ADAS: Now At The Forefront (Literally)
The upcoming Kia Sonet facelift now elevates safety with the introduction of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 1. It comes with a total of 10 ADAS features. The ADAS Level 1 system includes features such as Front Collision Warning (FCW), Front Collision-Avoidance Assist Car (FCA Car), Front Collision-Avoidance Assist - Cycle (FCA Cyclist), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
3. Engine Says, " Remember?"
The updated Kia Sonet maintains its existing engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine delivers 118 bhp and 172 Nm, available with either a 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (7DCT). The 1.5-litre diesel engine, generating 114 bhp and 250 Nm, comes with transmission choices of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
4. More Exciting New Features
The interior of the refreshed Kia Sonet features a host of upgrades, including a new digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, a redesigned air conditioning panel, and a voice-controlled window function. These enhancements contribute to an improved and technologically advanced in-cabin experience for the occupants.
Additionally, the top-tier Sonet variants will retain premium features such as ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a Bose audio system, sunroof, and LED ambient lighting. The interior aesthetics offer a variety of choices, with five upholstery color options available across all variants, including a fresh dual-tone black and brown finish.
Verdict
The forthcoming Sonet facelift signifies a noteworthy step forward in the competitive landscape of compact SUVs. Embracing the evolving trends in the segment, Kia has introduced substantial upgrades to elevate the Sonet's appeal. The inclusion of advanced features such as ADAS, a larger touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster adds to the model's mass appeal. Despite these enhancements, the vehicle maintains trust with its unchanged engine options.
